The University of Ӱԭ Fort Smith’s first blood drive of the new school year will be held from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Sept. 12-13 in the Reynolds Room of the Smith-Pendergraft Campus Center, with donors receiving a “Win from Within” T-shirt.
The blood drive is sponsored by the Ӱԭ Student Activities Office and is free and open to the public.
Ӱԭ coordinates four blood drives annually between September and April. The blood is given to the Ӱԭ Blood Institute, who distributes it to 14 hospitals in western Ӱԭ, including Sparks Health System and Mercy Hospital in Fort Smith. In the 2016-17 school year, blood garnered from Ӱԭ drives potentially saved 2,300 lives.
